Isaac is 18 Months old!

Happy 18 Months to Isaac!!

I brought out the Panda Bear from his monthly pictures
from when he was a baby... I figured the 18month milestone
was worth his presence :)

Only six more months until he is two.. SIX! Where the heck has time gone?? What's even crazier is that he will have a 2 month old sister (or brother if the ultrasound is wrong haha) when he turns 2... my head is spinning just thinking about it lol

He had his 18month Well-Child Check up yesterday and his measurements are now:
24.8lbs and 31.5inches.

If you notice to your right, according to his 16month check up, he was 32inches. No, I don't think he shrank, I think he just squirmed too much last time to get a good reading. Usually, they lay him down and they mark where his head is and then his feet. This time, he got to stand up for his height and weight measurements, which I think are more accurate.

He did alright at the appointment. He didn't want the nurse or the pediatrician to touch him though, so he fought the stethoscope and the ear-thingy. He did however, point out all the body parts he knows (which is quite a few) so I was happy about that. Also, no shots this time! Yay! He's good to go until he turns 2 (though I may take him in around October for a flu shot but that will be just a quick trip).

This past weekend, we had some friends come over for dinner, including the Lings so I FINALLY got some pictures of baby Liam :)

Sooooo adorable!

While I was taking pictures of Liam, Isaac and Matt were playing on the swing set

Sunday was pretty tame. It stormed a lot so we were inside most of the day. We skyped with both sets of Grandparents in California and during that, Matt took some pics of Isaac.

And these I took tonight before bed:

His new favorite show... Bubble Guppies!
He will actually sit through a whole episode.

He loves this train book, but there is no story for it,
just pictures of trains, so we have to make up our own stories.

And now, for a special treat.. Videos!!

In this video, Isaac is trying to figure out where his Mickey Mouse stuffed animal went. By the way, "hot dog" = Mickey. lol

Boobies = Blueberries. Isaac kept saying "Mmm.. boobies" off camera. This was the best we could get on camera.

That's all for this week!

Isaac's 1 Year appointment

Today we took Isaac to his 1 year well-child checkup (only a month late due to moving haha)

Stats:
22lbs, 9oz
30 inches tall

My big boy!

He had to get three shots, and except for fussing after the first one, he did really well. The doctor said he is developmentally on track and has no concerns :)

8 Months old!

I know I say this every month, but I can't believe how fast time is going! Isaac is already 8 months old! He's crawling EVERYWHERE and also pulling himself up on things whenever he can. He has a bucket full of toys, but he insists on going after the dog toys, the dog bowls, and any type of cord he can find. Silly baby!

Yesterday he had his doctors appointment. It was techinically his 7 month appointment (according to their appointment scheduling), but it happened the day before he turned 8 months haha.

He now weighs 18lbs 5oz and is 27.5 inches tall.

We are to start giving him proteins now, not just fruits and veggies. I also think I'm going to give him more foods that he can feed himself and less pureed foods. Should be fun!

He still only has 3 teeth (the two bottom middle ones and one top side one) but I think another 1, or 2, might be on their way. He's always gnawing on his hands and fingers and his drool amount has increased.

That's really about it. Here are a few pictures I took this morning. I tried to get him to sit next to his panda bear, but that's just impossible now...all he wants to do is attack and play with it. I don't think he'll be sitting nicely for any more monthly pictures :)

And here are a few pictures from the last day that Mr and Mrs B were visiting us (I forgot to post these before, oops!)

Well, that's about it. This weekend I am hoping to go to the pumpkin patch... weather permitting! :)

6 Month Pediatrician visit

I took Isaac in for his 6 month well-child check up today (a bit late yes... he was supposed to go in on 8/23 but they were scheduled to be closed so I had reschedule and the next opening was for 2 weeks later, yuck).

Here are his stats!

17lbs 2.5oz (17.15lbs)
26.75inches (almost 27 inches.. they measured him wrong last time because after his 5 month appointment we measured him ourselves and he was only 26.5).

He got two shots too but he only cried for a second and then was fine.

AND he cut his second tooth yesterday (9/9/10!) Woohoo! And last night he slept from 8pm till 5am without waking once.. at 5am he took a paci and slept more until 6:30am!

No pics today.. sorry!

5 Month pediatrician appointment

Isaac had his 5 month well-child check up today. Daddy, Grandma Lucy, and Grandpa Ed all went while mommy worked.

He now weighs 16.5lbs and is 26.93inches long! He gained 1.5lbs and inches! Such a growing boy!!!!

The pediatrician said that he is definitely teething, though can't determine which tooth it is. But by the way he grabs things and stuffs them in his mouth to chew, that is a big sign. She recommended teething tablets and Motrin to help with the pain.

She also gave the thumbs up for starting rice cereal and Stage 1 baby foods :)

And lastly, she took a look at his chest (which has been red and itching him lately). He has a bit of eczema and combining that with the drool is causing a fungal infection. She is prescribing him an ointment to help with all of that so hopefully we will see some difference in the next week or so.

I think that's about it... I'll update with pictures later on :)

4 Month Pediatrician Appointment

Isaac had his 4 month well-child appointment today. Aside from a cold that he has, he's doing really well.

He is now 14.97 lbs and 25.63inches. So he basically grew 1lb and 1inch. Not bad!

He didn't even cry when he got his shot! The doctor said he is doing all his development stuff wonderfully. She also said that the daycare trying to feed him at 2.5-3hrs between meals is too soon and is probably why he isn't taking bottles and spitting up a lot (he goes through 2-3 outfits a day due to him spitting up). I'm going to see if I can sign a waver so that they feed him when he's hungry, not on a schedule.

And, because he's such a cutie and I couldn't pass up picture oppertunties... here are some more pics of the little guy!

This was him last night.. he was not feeling well :(

This outfit is soo cute! It's also size 3-6 months!

That's it for now!

3 Month Pediatrician appointment

So Daddy took Isaac to his appointment today. This kid GREW this past month!!!

He currently weighs 13lbs 11oz and is 24.75 inches tall.. which explains why most of his clothes are fitting short on him haha

He got two shots. He's a little fussy but otherwise doing good :)

2 Months Old!

Isaac is 2 months old today!!! It's weird, because part of me thinks that the time has flown by and the other part is thinking "ONLY 2 months??" haha...

He had his 2month well-child check up today. He got an oral vaccination and also a shot in his leg. He drank up the oral one like a champ (it was also close to another feeding session so he was getting hungry). He was already crying/being fussy when she gave him the shot so I'm not exactly sure his true reaction to it was. He was crying after, but I think also was because he was hungry (we gave him a bottle and then he was fine). However, this evening he is sure being vocal about his leg hurting him :( We are all trying very hard not to even touch his left leg because if we do, he screams. I thought he screamed before but boy was I wrong.. he can get even louder! We are giving him both Tylenol and Motrin for the pain. I have a feeling its going to be a very loooong night!

Now for the stats and fun updates!
He weighs 11lbs 7oz (I swore he was already at 12lbs but I was wrong haha) and 22.16inches long! My growing boy! He's out of newborn diapers (has been for a few weeks now) and only a very few newborn outfits fit (I think only First Years by Carter because they run bigger). He's mostly wearing 0-3 months, and even some of those are too small (mostly because he is long). But the 3 month clothing is still a bit too big.. so he's in between sizes right now.

He gives out smiles a lot more freely now and if you are lucky, he will hold "conversations" with you. It's soooo cute. In fact, if you scroll down this post, past the pictures, you can see a cute video of him "talking" to Grandma Deb!

He's tolerating being placed on the floor or in his bouncer a little bit more, but not TOO much. He'll stay longer if you talk to him and play with him, but sometimes he will just sit there and look at the TV or his toys for a bit, giving us a small break as well.

His sleep schedule is still very random. Sometimes he will sleep up to 5 hours at a time. Other times about 3 hours.

His eating schedule is still very predictable.. every 2 hours, on the dot. If I feed him at 9:14am, he will start crying at 11:14am for food.. even if he's napping or playing happily with someone, it never fails that he will demand food at the 2 hour mark.

Below are pictures taken today with the Panda Bear (to compare his size as the months progress). Tomorrow I will be posting about 50 pictures.. if Isaac will give the time to do so! haha....

Of course, when we have to get up early and leave the house, he decide to sleep in!!

And new pictures with Panda Bear!

Now lets compare between Month 1 and Month 2...

Wow!! BIG BOY!

More pictures to be (hopefully!) posted tomorrow!!! Now it's time to get a very cranky baby to bed!

5 weeks old, Pediatrician Appointment & more grandparents!

Today Isaac is 5 weeks old! YAY! Look at the growing (sleeping) boy:

So aside from turning 5 weeks old, Isaac also had his pediatrician appointment today.
He now weighs 9lbs 2oz and its 20.25 inches long!!! For some reason I thought he wasn't even past 8lbs yet!

So this is the information that I got from the doctor:
He is growing very well and my milk is definitely feeding him.

He has a small hernia by his belly button, that is two fingers wide. It's not an issue and will most likely clear itself by the time he is 9 month old. It's also very common with babies. The only reason it would be a concern is if he starts screaming in pain and the hernia is hard (its currently soft). That means it got snagged on something and he will need to go to the ER. It's rare that that happens though so I think we will be ok. One thing that will help him is letting him lay on his back, which is actually something he likes to do. He'll just lay on a blanket on the floor and look around and babble for up to a half hour.

She confirmed that he has colic, just by telling her all that happens with him. There really isn't anything we can do for it, aside from just helping him work out the gas from his system. It usually lasts 3 months, so we just have two more months to go.. woohoo?
She also said that since he is still gassy even though I took out milk from my diet more then 3 weeks ago, then most likely milk is not the issue and I should put it back in my diet. If I'm not getting calcium, he's not getting it either.

And last, his poop issues are mainly because I am still not drinking enough water. So I need to drink more and more. She also said that if he goes two days without going, that I can use baby suppositories for him and help him go (he went another 2.5days without going and was miserable until 10pm last night when he FINALLY went).

In fun news, Grandma Teresa (Grandma T) and Papa Mikee are visiting!

They've already had an introduction to Colicy Isaac last night haha! And believe it or not, this was Mikee's first time holding a baby! Next up, diaper changing! hahahah!

Isaac's two week appointment

So today was Isaac's 2 week well-child checkup. He is now weighing in at 7lbs 2.5oz and 19.5 inches long! Just 2.3 more ounces and he will be 1 whole pound over his birth weight and he has already grown one inch since birth! Such a big boy!!! :)

I think he is going through a growth spurt (still/again)... He's eating basically every 2 hours on the dot and sometimes it takes him 30 minutes or more to get full.  I feel like all I ever do is feed this kid! At night I am using pumped breastmilk and he will drink 2.5oz at a time. Pretty soon he'll be onto 3oz I bet.

Lucy leaves tomorrow.. :( She has been a HUGE help in letting Matt and I get some rest. But now I must get back on to midnight feeding patrol again. I woke up last night with him and had her give me pointers that she did to help him fall/stay asleep at night. I'm just waiting on the days (er, nights) that he starts sleeping 4-5hours at a time, instead of 2 and a half (if I am lucky, 3 hours tops).

In two weeks Mom and Mike come to visit, then after they leave, Matt's mom, Deb, will be here for a week as well. Yay!

Parenting Class #3, Pediatrician, and Heartburn

Class
Last night was class #3 of our parenting class, which focused on c-section information in the beginning portion, then went into breathing exercises to be used during labor in the second portion (which was good for us since we are not taking a Lamaze class).

The c-section part wasn't bad really. I thought they would show a live birth of it, but instead, they showed it in 3D. Still had the same effect though.. lots of cringing and gasping in the class towards the end of the demo (I wont go into details in case there are squeamish people reading this).

The breathing exercises at the end was nice. We learned three different types for the three different stages of labor. She even made sure all the guys practiced with the moms so that they are aware of how much work it actually takes to breath a certain way for a minute or longer. It also good for them to know so they can look for cues if we're not doing it right.

Pediatrician
In other news, we picked out a pediatrician :) I am part of a parenting message board called BabyGaga and I have met a lot of women who are due in the month of February. One lady is from Hawaii, so I asked her who her pediatrician was and she highly recommended the one she has. So I called the doctor and Matt and I had a sit-down interview with her last Friday. She has a lot of the same view points as we do (like with breast-feeding, circumcision, etc) and seems really nice. Her name is Nadine Salle.

Heartburn
So a few entries ago I mentioned how my doctor prescribed me Nexium for my heartburn... boy does it WORK!!!!!!! The very first night I was able to sleep well for the first time in a long time (well, except for having to get up to use the restroom, but I can at least quickly fall back asleep upon returning to bed). The next night, we tempted fate and had pizza for dinner, knowing for sure I was going to be up all night with heartburn. NOPE! No heartburn at all. It's been almost a week now and it hasn't returned. I'm so very happy :)

The newest thing happening now though, is that my hips/pelvic bone REALLY hurt. I'm not quite sure why, as I don't think the baby has dropped yet (at least it doesn't look that way to me). It hurts to go from sitting to standing.. I walk with a limp/waddle now because of the pain, and night whenever I have to switch sides while sleeping my hips will pop really loud and hurt while I move. I've tried taking pain meds but nothing has really worked... I think the only cure, at this point, is to have the baby haha! Only 3 weeks and 1 day left to go!!

Coming up this week: Turning 37 weeks (full term!) and OB appointment on Friday
