House Renovations, Isaac gets rid of the paci, & Rose gets bananas!

It's been pretty busy and hectic over here the past 1-2weeks, and will continue to be for at least another 3ish weeks. We are finally in the process of fixing up things around the house that we have been talking about for a while now. This includes ripping out the current trim so we can replace it with oak trim later, repainting the dining room and kitchen, and putting in hardwood floors, which is a process that will take a few weeks to complete on it's own since Matt is really only able to work on it during the weekend.

Matt already has completed taking out all the trim in the main level of the house (we'll do the upstairs eventually, just not this time around).  Here are some pictures of the first trim he pulled out:

Then last weekend, Matt repainted the dining room and kitchen. We finally got rid of the blue border and cut-out flowers in the kitchen and re-colored from yellow to an almond color. The dining room, which was a mauve-ish color, is now a silver grey. We like the new colors a lot :)

Now Matt is in the process of removing all the carpet and linoleum and putting down more plywood in preparation for the hardwood to be installed. We have the hardwood that will be put down stored in our garage, but it wont be done until Father's day weekend (Next weekend we are going to PA for our nephews birthday so it has to wait till the following weekend. Also, Matt's stepdad, sisters and mom will be up to help out that weekend).

Because of all this happening on the main level, we have moved our living room to the basement. It also means that I don't always have access to our camera when the kids do something cute, so most of the pictures this week were taken by my cell phone and posted on Facebook already.

Today during lunch, Rose was watching us eat then smacking her lips together as if SHE was trying to eat. It was really cute and we figured we would try out some bananas with her. She is around the same age that Isaac was when he got his first solid food, which was also bananas :)

Another change around here is that we finally got rid of Isaac's paci's. He had three and as they got old and breaking, we would throw them out. Well, Saturday his last paci was finally broke so we had him throw it away (he threw away the other ones as well). He was fine throwing it away, but wasn't so happy about not having it to sleep. He screamed and cried for a good while Saturday night and cried a bit tonight (Sunday) but not nearly as bad as yesterday. Hopefully a few more days and he wont care that he doesn't have it anymore. The funny thing is, is that he hasn't taken a paci at daycare in over a year, but he was so instant on having one at home.

Well, that's about all there is for now! Kids are both in bed so it's time for me to relax a bit before heading to bed myself :)

8 Months old!

I know I say this every month, but I can't believe how fast time is going! Isaac is already 8 months old! He's crawling EVERYWHERE and also pulling himself up on things whenever he can. He has a bucket full of toys, but he insists on going after the dog toys, the dog bowls, and any type of cord he can find. Silly baby!

Yesterday he had his doctors appointment. It was techinically his 7 month appointment (according to their appointment scheduling), but it happened the day before he turned 8 months haha.

He now weighs 18lbs 5oz and is 27.5 inches tall.

We are to start giving him proteins now, not just fruits and veggies. I also think I'm going to give him more foods that he can feed himself and less pureed foods. Should be fun!

He still only has 3 teeth (the two bottom middle ones and one top side one) but I think another 1, or 2, might be on their way. He's always gnawing on his hands and fingers and his drool amount has increased.

That's really about it. Here are a few pictures I took this morning. I tried to get him to sit next to his panda bear, but that's just impossible now...all he wants to do is attack and play with it. I don't think he'll be sitting nicely for any more monthly pictures :)

Well, that's about it. This weekend I am hoping to go to the pumpkin patch... weather permitting! :)

6 Months old!!!

I can't believe Isaac is HALF A YEAR OLD already!!! In another 6 months we'll be planning his 1st birthday party!

I don't have any new stats for him yet, as his doctors appointment isn't until Sept 10th.. It WAS supposed to be today (the 23rd) but they had to re-schedule.

But I can still list the things he can do and what all we have been up too :)

He can sit up, unsupported, for a good length of time. There are times when he's wobbly and falls over, or when he gets tired of sitting up he just falls forward or to the side. He'd much rather be sitting up then doing anything else, and that includes tummy time. He still fusses while on his tummy but he will also play with toys for a bit too.. it all depends on his temperment.

He still goes from tummy to belly just fine, and CAN go from back to belly, but usually only does that at night to sleep. I think he's only done it once or twice during the day when reaching for a toy but went right back to his back or he started fussing because he doesn't want to be on his belly haha

He is not crawling, but he can kind of move in a circle when on his tummy. I think crawling (probably army crawling) will happen before his 7th month though.

He's eating solid foods a bit better now. He's a pro at eating rice cereal. He loves bananas (we just mash them up, no jarred stuff). He wasn't a fan of jarred carrots, but I'm going to make my own and see if he'll take them. We baked a sweet potato (not a yam) and he tollerated it, but I think it was too starchy for him. I'm going to try an actual yam later this week. We also gave him fresh peas.. we just took off the casing and the pod inside is split in two..we gave him one half at a time and he mashed it himself with his mouth.

He still babbles and has recently started babbling "ba-ba-ba-ba". He isn't associating it to anything, just saying it, but now I'm always saying "ma-ma"or "da-da" to him in hopes he will say it back some time :)

He also LOVES to stick out his tongue! (as I am sure you have seen in some of the pictures I have posted)

And now, on to pictures! There were all taken yesterday, 8/22. We have the usual ones with him and his panda bear, but then I also wanted to get some with him at the beach.

Finally bigger then his panda bear! Though I think he was as big, or bigger last month, but it was hard to tell because he was slouching/leaning. Now that he can sit up, you can REALLY see the difference!
