Merry Christmas everyone!

Boy has it been a busy week! Sorry for not updating the blog in a while but I'll make up for it by posting lots of pictures :) I have to backtrack to before Christmas and will work my way up to Christmas Day.

And here is one of little Rose, 1 week old today!

That's all for pics...now lots of text!

Christmas was really nice. It took about 3 and a half hours to open all the gifts, but that was mainly because Isaac wanted to play with all the new things right away. Deb drove up to meet Rose and is here until Tuesday (tomorrow). My mom is still here as well (she came the night I went into labor with Rose.. talk about timing!) and she leaves on Wednesday. We had our neighbors over and Matt made brisket for Christmas dinner. We also had homemade rolls, salad, cheesy potatoes (from Deb) and Mac & Cheese dish (from the neighbors) as well as pumpkin pie. Then we played Apples to Apples and had a great time. We didn't realize what time it was and Isaac ended up going to bed at almost 10pm (normal bedtime is 8).

As far as everything with the new baby goes - it's going well. The first two nights were pretty tiresome; Rose wouldn't really sleep unless being held. We were trying to get her to sleep in her room but after two nights of me getting only 2ish hours of sleep total, we decided to put up the pack-n-play and have her sleep in our room. The first night doing that went really well; she would get up to eat, and within 15-20 minutes, she was back asleep in the bassinet. We think she was having issues sleeping in a completely dark and quiet room, so we left our bathroom light on and she slept better (we even turned off the light and she got really fussy and was fine when we turned it back on). The second night wasn't very good, but her stomach seemed to be hurting her because she was grunting a lot and trying to poop and was pretty fussy. I think something I ate didn't agree with her :( Hopefully tonight will go better.

Isaac is doing really good with her. He does get a bit jealous, especially when I'm nursing her, but thankfully there have been people around to help distract him. I make sure to spend time with him and give him lots of hugs and cuddling as well. I'm trying to keep all the same routines we had before so we don't change too much stuff on him.

So far, Rose is a completely different baby then how Isaac was. She is VERY laid back. She only cries when hungry and thats only if we miss her hunger cues (which is clicking her tongue and/or smacking her lips). She also isn't a fan of her diaper being changed but as soon as the new diaper is on, she is quiet and just looks around. She's an excellent nurser, but I think that's also because I know what I'm doing this time around (as her pediatrician said, second babies seem to be born smarter then the first, because they know how to nurse..... when in fact it's really the moms who know what they are doing and are more comfortable with it). She also sleeps through everything; the first night home she was on my lap asleep while Isaac and Matt were playing with bubble-wrap and Isaac was squealing really loud - she didn't even flinch. She loves the baby swing so right now she spends lots of time in there while napping throughout the day.

Well, that's all there is as far as an update goes. I'll probably update again either later this week or next weekend :)
